Santiago Salas
Santiago is a Postdoctoral Scholar at Northwestern University. He collaborates with the NSF Engineering Research Center CISTAR, exploring decarbonization paths using shale gas resources. He completed his bachelors in Chemical Engineering at Universidad Central del Ecuador (Quito, Ecuador) in 2012. After working in the Oil & Gas industry for +2 years, he started graduate studies at Louisiana State University thanks to a Fulbright scholarship. In 2019 he received a PhD in Chemical Engineering. Prior joining Northwestern, he worked as Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of the Coast (ESPOL) in Guayaquil, Ecuador. His research interests include advanced process control, state/parameter estimation, simulation-based optimization, and life cycle assessment.
