Sean Dee

Dr. Dee specializes in the investigation of fires, explosions, chemical releases, and process safety management. His expertise is applying fundamentals of chemistry, reaction engineering, and kinetics to accident evaluation and prevention. He also has experience in production facilities after working for E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, and The Lubrizol Corporation. Prior to joining Exponent, Dr. Dee's doctoral studies focused on the production of biofuels from energy grasses using an ionic liquid solvent system. He is proficient in experimental design, liquid and gas chromatography, matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization, electrospray ionization, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy, and robotic high throughput systems. In addition to his chemical engineering expertise, Dr. Dee also finished the New Product Development Certification program at the University of California, Berkeley, and has a Sociology degree from Case Western Reserve University where he focused on deviant behavior, criminology, and law.
