Stein Haugen

Stein has worked for more than 30 years for the offshore oil and gas industry, mainly with risk management and risk assessment. He spent nearly 25 years working as a consultant for the industry with the company Safetec (presently part of ABS Group). In this period he worked for the majority of the major operators in the North Sea, like Statoil, Shell, BP, ConocoPhillips and Total. He spent two years in Aberdeen, setting up Safetecs business in the UK, before moving back to Norway to become Managing Director of Safetec. In 1999, he stepped down to work as R&D Director in the company. He soon started working part-time as an Adjunct Professor, an in 2010 he accepted a position as full Professor of Technical Safety at NTNU, the major technical university in Norway.
