Stephen Thomas is the SIS Engineering Lead for Chevron’s OASIS Program, which is a >$2 billion program to evaluate and upgrade the Safety Instrumented Systems at all of Chevron’s wholly-owned refineries. Stephen has more than 20 years of experience as an instrument and control systems engineer in refining and chemicals. Prior to joining Chevron, he led the Automation Projects group at ExxonMobil Research and Engineering, where he supported major capital projects across the global ExxonMobil refining system. Stephen holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Auburn and a Master’s degree in Reliability Engineering from the University of Maryland. He is a Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE), a Certified Reliability Engineer (ASQ), and an ISA84 SIS Expert. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Alabama. He currently lives in Sugar Land, TX.
