Xianyue, W.
WU Xianyue is a 3rd Year PhD student of Prof. Paul Liu at Nanyang Technological University. Xianyue's main research interest lies in the study of CO2 capture and utilization. Currently, she is working on an in-situ two-step CO2 capture and methanation process using Ni-supported-on-alkaline earth metal carbonate dual-function materials. She discovered that CO2 conversion and CH4 selectivity are improved with the increasing CaCO3/MgCO3 ratio, which is attributed to enhanced surface basicity and metal-support interactions. By operating at moderate temperatures, the two-step CO2 capture-hydrogenation proceeds by allowing direct hydrogenation on carbonates and CH4 production is achieved. She proposed different reaction pathways on Ni/MgCO3 and Ni/CaCO3 interphases and suggested a correlation between the performance of conventional one-step CO2 methanation and two-step CO2 capture-hydrogenation, which could be a useful approach to study the CO2 hydrogenation performance of dual-function materials in the future.
