Yufeng Shen
Yufeng Shen is a 5th year PhD student of Dr. Jeffrey Rimer’s research group at the University of Houston. Shen received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2012. Currently at U of H, Shen’s research focuses on the optimization of ZSM-11 catalysts for methanol-to-hydrocarbon (MTH) reactions. With his 4 years’ experience in zeolite catalyst synthesis, he developed novel methods to synthesize ZSM-11 catalyst with minimal amount of organic structure-directing agent (OSDA), short synthesis time and high yield. Shen also initiated the catalysis study in his research group by building two fix-bed tube reactors with GC/MS, which allow the investigation of structure-performance relationship of zeolite catalysts. Shen is expected to complete his PhD study in August 2018, and is actively looking for full-time employment opportunities.
