Leaks in fluid-containing castings, such as pumps and valves, present major problems for chemical processing plants. To address this issue, the Materials Technology Institute (MTI) funded a casting quality prediction project aimed at developing a method to identify abnormalities in the casting material that could lead to leaks and the associated safety and environmental issues.
