CEP: AIChE Journal Highlight - Reduce Water Use in Steam Systems

Steam systems are the largest consumer of energy in the U.S. manufacturing sector, and are prominent in the chemical process industries (CPI), where steam is critical to several ubiquitous processes, including distillation, stripping, cracking, and reforming. Improving the energy efficiency of steam systems in CPI plants makes sense from both energy and economic perspectives. Such improvements often deliver the equally important — but often overlooked — environmental benefit of reduced water use.
