Chemical engineers are vital to creating innovations that address some of the world’s biggest challenges. We are creating vaccines for pandemics, reliable renewable energy, resilient supply chains, and infrastructure that can withstand severe weather, as well as addressing a wide range of issues from climate change to sustainable foods. Chemical engineers bring our technical prowess, our fact-based, data-driven approach, and our systems-thinking skills to these global challenges. At the same time, there is an increasing need to engage, educate, and inform public officials to shape and accelerate these developments.
The Public Affairs and Information Committee (PAIC) is AIChE’s forum for gathering chemical engineering perspectives from people in industry, academia, and government; stating the facts clearly and concisely as AIChE informational or policy statements; building consensus on these statements for their approval; and identifying high-gain opportunities for communicating them with government agencies or officials. The PAIC reports to the AIChE Board of Directors, providing guidance and oversight for AIChE’s interactions with government entities.
