Cody Martin, who proudly says his beer is "made in Texas by Texans," was working as a environmental engineer when he fell in love with craft beer and started to home brew. Love turned into obsession, until the only thing he could think about during his day job was the next new beer recipe. As his productivity at work plummeted, Cody finally made the only realistic choice: to become a full time brewmaster.
Codys' wife Anna was supportive when he came to her with the idea of starting Martin House Brewing. So he made the rounds of local breweries offering to work for free in order to learn the business. The Deep Ellum Brewing Company took him up on the offer!
Cody feels his engineering background gives him a distinct advantage as a brewer. While learning the in and outs of craft brewing, he used his engineering skills to fix the brewery's complicated equipment. At his own brewery, Martin House Brewing, the systems, control panels, pumps and motors are all familiar, and he operates and repairs them himself.
Martin House Brewing Co. debuted its brews at the Fort Worth Flying Saucer on March 30, 2013 with two beers, The Imperial Texan, a red ale, and River House, a saison.
