Effective fluid mixing undergirds successful process research, development and operations in the chemical process industries. In this webinar, batch processes that require mixing are discussed and the mixing challenges and opportunities for achieving process success are described. How mixing affects the course of batch processes as well as the final process results are presented highlighting the pertinent physicochemical phenomena. An understanding of these is important for success in process development and scale-up of chemical processes.
They are illustrated with several examples including thought experiments, as well as ideas and approaches for lab studies and modeling designed to gain understanding of the controlling hydrodynamic environment needed for process success. In addition key steps are proposed in addressing the needs for mixing in process development, scale-up and design. Process research and development personnel and process engineers will find the insights and awareness gained from this webinar useful in their industrial roles.
