Process Intensification Principles: Energy – Dynamic Continuous Flow Reactors for Industrial Applications

In this 60-minute webinar, the 5th in our 10-part series, you’ll take an in-depth look at a practical example of innovation in the thermodynamic domain of process intensification. This webinar focuses on a relatively new type of chemical reactor, which is not only much smaller than conventional reactors, but it is also reportedly much safer, cost- and energy-efficient, and more environmentally-friendly.

Spinning disc reactors (as known in the marketplace as SpinPro), house a rotating disc in a narrow cylindrical encasing provide significantly larger shear rates in gases and liquids, which leads to a much larger area available for mass transfer and a higher degree of turbulence and micromixing. By incorporating the cooling and heating layers “parallel to and in close proximity” of the disc (in concert with the high shear and turbulence) allows for nearly instantaneous addition and removal of heat.

Join presenter Wessel Hengeveld as he reviews the many advantages and guides participants through the applications of the technology in producing high value chemicals.

What You Will Learn:

  • Working Principles of SpinPro Reactors
  • Application Examples
  • Insights into Macro/Micromixing
  • Mass and Heat Transfer
