MW/GW scale water electrolysis projects are expanding as the world works to decarbonize energy and transportation sector with renewables and hydrogen use. As the scale and quantity of proposed and planned projects increase, so do unique safety challenges related to renewable energy storage, electric grid stabilization, H2 fuel generation and other applications. Don’t let potential safety issues go undetected in projects involving intermittent power source integration, enclosure safe atmospheres, safe turn-down limits and integration with storage and fueling uses.

Join this webinar and hear hydrogen systems and safety consultant Larry Moulthrop identify and discuss the safety issues electrolysis project developers need to be aware of and how to put into place the proper safeguards and controls to mitigate them. Going forward, your projects will benefit from the practical solutions you learn here, including early specification, safety planning and operational planning.

Topics include:

  • Recommended practices for safe installation into hydrogen equipment enclosures and buildings
  • Code informed co-location with other systems, such as hydrogen refueling systems
  • Potential issues related to oxygen by-product venting and management
  • Turn down thresholds related to H2/O2 mixtures
  • Developing standard tests for electric grid and renewable connection compatibility
  • Existing water electrolysis safety standard ISO 22734:2019
