Should I Py or Should I Fortran?

Fortran and Python are programming languages with substantially different histories, design principles, and target applications. Yet, they are often found (and used) together in the toolbox of a scientific software developer. In this talk, a high-level overview of these two languages and their library ecosystems in the context of scientific and engineering applications will be given. The pros and cons of their design principles, built-in data structures, and parallel processing capabilities, and what all this means for your work, today, will be discussed.
