This webinar provides an overview of the status of the processing and conversion technologies in the US. It includes a review of the most significant technology and equipment providers as well as the most recent projects in the US. It provides insightful information on the level of development of the different technologies, their applicability and the level of performance they have shown so far. The following conversion technologies are covered: anaerobic digestion, gasification, pyrolysis, and mass burn Waste-to-Energy. The most significant technology providers and project developers are presented including, but not limited to: Enerkem, Plasco, Zero Waste Energy, Quasar, Harvest Power, Covanta, etc. Success stories as well as lessons learned from failed projects are presented and discussed.
On the solid waste processing side, the status of dual and single stream material recovery facilities, mixed waste processing facilities and refuse derived fuel facilities are reviewed. The most significant equipment vendors are presented along with the most advanced projects. The challenges and barriers associated with building new plants and for commercial implementation are discussed. Finally, a perspective on industry current and potential future trends are offered.
