My name is Blaise Kimmel and I recently defended my PhD in Chemical Engineering from the group of Milan Mrksich at Northwestern University. My PhD work focused on the development of programmable multi-protein assemblies – known as megamolecules – to tune structure-function relationships within protein-based therapies in breast cancer research. My most recent work was focused on the development and integration of a new, orthogonal megamolecule assembly chemistry to greatly expand the range of therapeutic nanoarchitectures that can be prepared. I recently began a position as a postdoctoral research fellow working with John T. Wilson in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Vanderbilt University. Here, I am developing a logic-gated conjugate immunotherapy for tumor-selective activation of the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway.
