Dimitrios Papavassiliou holds MS and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, all in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation, Dimitrios joined Mobil Technology Company, and in 1999, Dimitrios came to the University of Oklahoma, where he was named the C.M. Sliepcevich Professor of Chemical Engineering in 2013. His research contributions are in the areas of transport processes and mesoscale modeling, including turbulent transport, micro and nano-fluidics, flow and transport through porous media, and CFD for biomedical applications. Dr. Papavassiliou has published over 130 journal articles while his research has received funding from federal sources (NSF, NIH, DOE), defense agencies (ONR, AFOSR), private funds (ACS-PRF) and private company consortia. Dr. Papavassiliou served as the Program Director for Fluid Dynamics in the Division of Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental and Transport Systems at NSF (2013-2016). He currently serves on the AIChE Journal consulting editors board and is a Fellow of the AIChE.
