Michiel Van Cauwelaert is a doctoral researcher at the Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT) of Ghent University, where he holds a personal mandate at the Special Research Fund (BOF). His main research has focused on the automatic generation of kinetic models for liquid-phase processes and chemical looping carbon dioxide valorization. During his PhD, he will be working on super-dry reforming, a strongly intensified CO2 conversion process that was invented and developed at the LCT. His work aims at developing a multi-scale modeling approach, involving in silico materials screening using quantum chemistry calculations, experimental nanomaterial exploration and multi-scale reactor modeling.
