Umair Jamil Ur Rahman

My name is Umair. I am a PHD researcher in the Department of Fluid and Thermal engineering at the University of Twente. I completed my Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Pakistan. Later, I moved to Germany to pursue my master’s in Chemical and Energy Engineering. In my master thesis project, I analyzed the combustion of various fuels (methane, biogas, heavy fuels) in shaft kilns using Computational Fluid Dynamics approach. Before starting my PHD, I completed a 2 year Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) program at University of Twente where I redesigned a novel vortex chamber spray dryer for milk sprays. My PHD research aims at developing a process intensified spray drying technology that combines high air inlet temperatures with efficient particle separation for skim milk (https://ispt.eu/projects/rmzd/) .
