Stirring Hot Plates Handle Corrosive Materials
These corrosion-resistant, multiposition, stirring analog hot plates are suitable for acid digestions and can be used with most corrosive solutions. The 12-in. (305-mm) square ceramic heater tops can heat up to 450°C. A purge port on the rear of the unit allows purging with an inert gas. The hot-plate chassis is sealed to prevent corrosive vapors from entering the units, which protects the electronics and stirrer motors. They are available with five or nine stirring positions. The five-position units can stir 800-mL beakers, while the nine-position units can stir 500-mL beakers. Each stirring position is individually controlled and can achieve speeds of 100–1,500 rpm. The units measure 19 in. (432 mm) deep, 12.5 in. (318 mm) wide, and 5.25 in. (134 mm) high. The plate surface can support more than 50 lb (22.6 kg). All controls are mounted in front of the heater surface to protect against accidental burns. The stirrer hot plates are available in 115 VAC/60 Hz, 220 VAC/60 Hz, and 230 VAC/50 Hz. They have a main AC on/off switch and are fused for safety. All units are UL-, CSA-, and CE- (or equivalent) rated.

Insulation Tape Is Easy to Install
Series 945 Aerolon Tape is a self-adhesive insulating tape that controls condensation and improves thermal efficiency in industrial, water, wastewater, and architectural applications. It contains a blend of insulative particles with exceptionally low thermal conductivity. The tape is suitable for controlling condensation on processing equipment and piping with surface temperatures below 150°F (66°C). Available as 30-ft-long by 1.5-mm-thick strips in multiple widths, the tape can be layered to achieve the desired thickness, or applied in combination with Series 971 Aerolon Acrylic, a thermal insulating coating. The tape can be applied quickly and in cold weather, so it is particularly useful for projects where temperatures are too cold for Aerolon Acrylic to be sprayed. When temperatures drop below 50°F, an electric heat gun can be used to ensure proper adhesion. In addition to improving thermal efficiencies, the insulation tape helps resist corrosion under insulation (CUI) that can damage metal piping. The tape is suitable for use in the food processing industry, where spray-applied coatings are restricted.

Microbioreactor Drains Rapidly for Cell Line Screening
The ambr 15 Generation 2 cell culture system replicates laboratory-scale bioreactor performance on a small scale (10–15 mL) and controls up to 48 single-use bioreactor cultures in parallel. New clone selection software provides simplified, multivariate data analysis for faster, more-consistent cell-line screening and ranking. The bioreactor has a flexible workstation layout and an expanded tip bin capacity. A rapid vessel drain is useful for automated cell passaging and media exchanges so that large volumes of culture can be bled and the spent media can quickly be removed from the microbioreactors. The culture station design provides stirrer speed control that is suitable for sensitive cell lines. A robust screening platform for cell and gene therapy development can process HEK293 for viral vector production, T-cells, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and other immune-system-derived cell lines. The culture passage steps and rapid vessel drain functionality adapt to different media for screening cell lines in the microbioreactors. New media mixing steps automatically create media blends, eliminating the need to premix, saving time, and reducing the chance of error. Automated serial passages ensure the stability of cloned cell lines.

Durable Flowmeters Are Suitable for Low and High Flowrates
The ST80 Series thermal mass flowmeters feature adaptive sensor technology (AST) — which enables them to measure in constant-temperature (CT) thermal dispersion mode during startup and through lower flow ranges, and then seamlessly shift into constant-power (CP) thermal dispersion mode at mid-range and higher flowrates. This allows fast response and a wide measuring range at low power consumption, which maximizes sensor reliability and reduces energy expenses. The meters have a rugged design with no moving parts. They provide direct mass flow measurement through a single process penetration, which reduces installation and labor expenses. The meters include dual 4–20-mA, NAMUR NE43-compliant analog outputs and HART and Modbus 485 communications. They are offered without a display, with a display, or with a display and programming buttons. A backlit LCD provides readouts of the flowrate and temperature, totalized flow, alarm conditions, diagnostics feedback, and a user-defined label field. The insertion-style configuration has a flow range of 0.25–1,000 std. ft/sec (SFPS) and the inline-style configuration has a range of 0.0062–1,850 std. ft3/min (SCFM). The flowmeters fit pipe diameters ranging from 1 in. to 99 in. (25–2,500 mm), and they can handle media temperatures up to 850°F (454°C). They are suitable for measurement of compressed air, hydrocarbon gases, single process or specialty gases, biogas mixtures, and more. The ST80 Series meters are housed in enclosures that are National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) 4X- and Ingress Protection (IP) 67-rated. Enclosure approvals include FM, FMc, ATEX, and IECEx, and the meters are CE marked and comply as SIL-1 devices. Each flowmeter is available in aluminum and stainless steel and can be supplied with national pipe thread (NPT) or metric conduit port threading.

Chromatograph Autosampler Reduces Run Times
The Nexera ultra-high-performance liquid chromatograph (UHPLC) incorporates artificial intelligence to automatically detect and resolve impending problems. Users can review instrument status, optimize resource allocation, and achieve higher throughput. This UHPLC maximizes reliability and uptime with fully unattended workflows that span from startup to shutdown. Operators can select a startup time, and the UHPLC will complete the autopurge, equilibration, baseline, and system suitability checks and be ready for analysis before the operator arrives at the lab. In addition, FlowPilot technology increases the flowrate gradually, reducing the possibility of damage to columns. Auto-diagnostic and auto-recovery capabilities allow the column to monitor pressure fluctuations to check for anomalies. The SIL-40 autosampler can process the entire injection cycle in 7 sec, and continuous analysis can be carried out on up to 44 microtiter plates (MTPs) using three plate changers. In addition, the instrument tracks consumables usage and sends alerts when parts need to be replaced. Analysts can monitor chromatograms directly from a web browser on a mobile device.

Metal Detector Scans in Multiple Orientations
The Interceptor-divergent field (DF) metal detector inspects vertically and horizontally concurrently and looks for thin, nonspherical metal contaminants. Rather than scanning a certain number of frequencies, the conveyor-style metal detector inspects products using multiple field directions. It utilizes two channels and two frequencies to choose the direction of the inspection field. The multiorientation, multiscan metal detector is especially sensitive to very thin metal contaminant flakes and foils that are difficult to detect on low-profile foods, including chocolate, confections, nutrition bars, cookies, and biscuits. The detector can also be used to inspect small, thin packages of conductive products. Multiple coil sets instantaneously drive the electromagnetic fields in different directions. Rather than missing a metal contaminant because it is not aligned with a specific field, the instrument looks for signals over a broad spectrum from multiple angles. The Contact Reporter software produces a full log of events to increase supply chain transparency and product traceability. These electronic records can be viewed, filtered, and exported, and can be used to supplement or replace manual documentation. Halo automatic testing can be added to reduce the risk of human error when manually testing the performance of the detection system.
