Fundamentals of Laminar Mixing and Applications

Do you know how to characterize a mixing system for power and blend time? Determine the best geometry for required mixing conditions or product specifications? Tune into this webinar.

Join this webinar to update your skills while reviewing the fundamentals of laminar mixing and applications. In 60 minutes, you’ll examine the behavior of viscous fluids as non-Newtonian fluids and the effect of this property on the flow in the vessel. You’ll be introduced to the background of laminar mixing as well as notions about complex rheology, including shear-thinning fluids and viscosity models. You’ll learn about interactions between the flow and heat generation, review the most popular viscous mixing equipment, and explore the design of such systems. You’ll address the notion of chaos and see examples of chaos used to improve mixing and mixers performance and minimize mixing time. This webinar also considers the selection of appropriate geometry for specific applications and presents and explains scale-up and scale-up rules.

Take a look at your agenda:

  • Pertinent  dimensionless numbers for flow characterization: Reynolds and Power
  • The Metzner and Otto concept for handling non-Newtonian viscosity when calculating/measuring power consumption
  • Blend time and mixing time measurement and correlations
  • Characterization techniques for flow and flow visualization
  • Characterization of unconventional mixing system for power and mixing time
  • Impact of operating parameters on system design
