AIChE’s flagship publication CEP recently conducted an industry survey to better understand how our organizations are monitoring and addressing energy and water waste today, as well as the larger impact of energy and water waste management practices.
This CEP Special Report collected survey insights from CEP readers on their organizations’ approaches and experiences with energy and water conservation, a particularly key subject given rising energy costs and long-term projections of declining water availability in areas such as the western U.S.
Highlights of this survey include:
• 44% of respondents said that reducing water and energy consumption is a top-tier priority of their company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy
• 26% rank water and energy conservation as their number-one ESG priority
• Reducing water and energy consumption was rated as a significant or important element of a company’s overall ESG initiative by 80% of respondents
