Tamás Buzogány is a chemical engineer holding a Masters’ degree in Chemical Engineering from Ghent University, and will obtain his Masters’ degree in Business Economics later this year. After his studies, he obtained the prestigious Baekeland grant from the Flemish government to pursue his Ph.D.-work under the supervision of Profs. Kevin Van Geem and Geraldine J. Heynderickx in close collaboration with AVGI bv, under supervision of Guy B. Marin and Dr. David J. Brown. The title of his work is “Steam cracking of plastic waste pyrolysis oils”, focusing on the modeling of steam cracking of hydrocarbons from diverse sources, including both fossil and plastic-waste derived feedstocks. The ultimate goal of his work is to develop a single-event microkinetic model that can be used to simulate the yields, run length, and optimal operating conditions in steam cracking using AVGI’s reactor model COILSIM1D.
