Rheometer Accessory Measures Bulk Density

This accessory for existing rheometers offers the ability to measure envelope density, also known as bulk or geometric density. This solution (along with additional accessories) can allow traditional rheometers to measure other material characteristics such as powder rheology and tribology, as well as perform dynamic mechanical analysis and conventional mechanical testing. The accessory automatically detects measuring geometry and adjusts settings accordingly, eliminating the need for manual configuration. Rheology testing systems using this accessory also feature RheoCompass software to ensure correct data storage.

Meter Monitors Total Solids in Wastewater Processing

images

In municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, it is critical to take real-time measurements of total solids (TS) and not just total suspended solids (TSS). The Proline Teqwave MW 300 and 500 TS inline meters provide data about the state of sludge in a treatment process, reducing the need for slow laboratory sample testing. The unit can help control water and polymer intake, which helps increase dewatering efficiency and generate consistent TS levels in dewatered sludge. The 300 model has an integrated web server for remote monitoring, while the 500 model can be installed up to 300 m from the sensor.

Alkalinity Analyzer Monitors Municipal Wastewater pH

images

Effective wastewater treatment requires precise pH management, and failure to achieve this can result in poor water quality, over-disinfection, and maintenance issues. The CA900 alkalinity analyzer automates the routine measurement of low- to high-range alkalinity in municipal water treatment applications. The analyzer performs a single measurement per analysis cycle, which includes a cleaning cycle, sample acquisition, pH monitoring, addition of the titrant fluid, fluid mixing, calculation of results, and data storage. The unit features four different factory preset alkalinity calibration ranges: 0 to >1,000 ppm, 200–1,000 ppm, 50–200 ppm, and 0–50 ppm.

Radar Sensor Operates in Rugged Conditions

Radar sensors are often used in challenging settings that preclude the use of optoelectric sensors. The PSENradar sensor is designed for robotics applications in rugged conditions. Radar sensors use frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) technology, which reduces the deleterious effects of dust, dirt, rain, light, sparks, or vibrations. This unit allows operators to interface with the sensor via ethernet, PROFIsafe, and Functional Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE). The protection zone for each sensor can be defined depending on the size of the area to be monitored.

Model Library Generates Accurate Circuit Simulations

The Exemplar library for MATLAB includes almost 50 microwave global models for capacitors, inductors, and resistors, representing nearly 3,500 components for many of today’s leading component suppliers, including Amotech, Coilcraft, Johanson, Kemet, Vishay, and more. These tools allow users to create highly accurate simulations of circuits, and advanced model features allow users to simulate part-value scalability, solder pad-size scaling, de-embedding, and substrate scaling. These models can be accessed through RF Toolbox, a MATLAB add-on.

Automated Sensor Cleaning System Ensures Sensor Accuracy

images

Ensuring that sensors are cleaned and calibrated is critical to maintaining consistency in processes that require measuring pH, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), or dissolved oxygen concentration. The EasyClean 500 is a fully automated sensor cleaning and calibration system that eliminates costly and time-consuming maintenance. The device uses predictive sensor diagnostics to trigger sensor calibration only when it is required, reducing the amount of cleaning and buffer solution used. The only required operator intervention is the periodic refilling of cleaning and buffer chemicals and the occasional replacement of sensors.

Vacuum Pump Series Operates in Hazardous Applications

images

The EDP 80-400 series of oil-free vacuum pumps employ a non-contacting, reverse-claw design for chemical process industries (CPI) applications. These pumps meet the relevant explosionproof certifications, and the durable construction allows them to be used in hot, corrosive applications. The oil-free design also reduces maintenance, as well as the chances of product and waste contamination, extending the minimum service life to 25 years. This series features models with pumping speed classes of 80, 160, 250, and 400 m3/hr.

Beer Foam Separator Reduces Water Waste

The Beer Foam Separator 900 (BFS 900) reduces the high amount of foam that is generated after the filling process, thereby reducing the rejection rate of over- and under-filled bottles. The rising liquid level is detected by sensors, and an automatic separation process is initiated by an airlock consisting of electro-pneumatic actuators. A receiver tank enables continuous draining. The separator is also clean-in-place (CIP) capable and complies with the required hygienic standards. This unit was designed to be used in combination with the manufacturer’s GHS VSD+ series of screw vacuum pumps.

Insertion Panel Provides Low-Pressure-Drop Flow Conditioning

Flow conditioning is often required in flowmeter applications to mitigate the effects of turbulent pipe flow profiles, especially in applications in which a significant distance of straight, uninterrupted flow ahead of the meter is not possible. The Vortab Insertion Panel (VIP) flow conditioner improves flowmeter performance while producing a smaller pressure drop than comparable technologies, such as tube bundles, screens, and perforated plates. The panel is lightweight and easily installed, and it can be placed only three pipe-diameter lengths ahead of the meter.

Spray Nozzle Supplies Consistent Liquid Coverage

The 1/8 national pipe tapered (NPT) FloodStream liquid atomizing spray nozzle provides a consistent deflected flat fan pattern spray. As a result, the nozzle supplies even coverage for spraying processes, such as washing/wetting, dust suppression, lubrication, and part cooling. The stainless steel design has a maximum pressure of 250 psi and is sufficiently durable and corrosion-resistant for applying water, light oils, rust inhibitors, chemicals, paints, dyes, and other common liquids. This compact design can be used in tight spaces and provides a spray pattern at 75 deg. from the nozzle orientation.

Hot Runner for Plastics Molding Reconfigured for Increased Versatility

images

Previous iterations of the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) series of hot runner systems have used a three-plate design, which demonstrates improved geometric thermal balancing compared to typical two-plate designs, but their versatility has suffered from their larger size. Now, the redesigned PET series hot runners have an optimized design with a stack height of 260 mm on systems with 72 cavities or less using standard components. These changes allow the hot runners to be used on a wider variety of machines without compromising the enhanced performance quality. The PET series of hot runner systems are designed for the production of two-stage PET preforms.

Chilling Module Rapidly Cools Samples for Leak Testing

The Dry Chiller Module improves container closure integrity testing (CCIT) in the pharmaceutical and medical industries by ensuring the seal of containers that must remain leak-free at low temperatures. This addition to the ASM 2000 and AMI 1000 leak detectors rapidly cools down the container without the use of a liquid bath, which decreases testing time. The module can be applied to helium pre-filled containers without any sample preparation, widening the module’s versatility.
