This conference brings together scientists across the quickly growing field of microbiome engineering. The program is unique from other microbiome conferences in that it specifically highlights the integration of engineering design principles with microbiome research. It is difficult for microbes to survive in the environment without interacting with other microbes. They should live together with other bacteria, forming microbiotas. So should humans.
