Dan Voytas

Dan Voytas is a plant geneticist who is recognized for his contributions to the field of gene editing and its applications to plant biology and agriculture. Voytas helped develop a highly programmable gene editing reagent - Transcription Activator-Like Effector Nucleases (TALENs) - which proved effective in making targeted modifications to diverse eukaryotic genomes. Voytas was born in Oregon, and prior to college, lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota and New Hampshire. He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College in 1984 with an AB in biology. In 1990, he received his PhD in genetics with...Read more

Mike Nuccio

I completed undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas A&M University, my primary focus being plant molecular genetics with emphasis on plant genetic engineering. This was followed by Post-Doctoral work in plant metabolic engineering with Andrew Hanson at the University of Florida. I joined Syngenta as a staff scientist in 2000 and held various roles in trait gene discovery and trait development for GM applications primarily in maize. My work primarily focused on response to water deficit and yield formation. In 2017, I joined Inari Agriculture as a Science Director to help build the...Read more

Eilon Shani

Eilon Shani is a Professor in the School of Plant Sciences and Food Security, Tel Aviv University. Professor Shani did his Ph.D. (2005-2010) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Post-Doctoral studies (2011-2013) at the University of California San Diego. His group is interested in the molecular mechanisms regulating plant hormones transport, primarily focusing on auxin, gibberellin, and ABA. To facilitate this, his group develops genome-scale, multi-targeted, CRISPR- and amiRNA based, forward-genetics tools to uncover inaccessible genetic variation in plants.Read more

Steve Strauss

Dr. Steven H. Strauss is a Distinguished Professor of Forest Biotechnology in the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at Oregon State University, and has a joint appointment in the Molecular and Cellular Biology Program. He is Director of the Tree Biosafety and Genomics Research Cooperative at OSU, a university-public agency-industry consortium formed in 1994. It conducts research on the biosafety and physiology of genetically engineered trees used in plantation forestry and horticulture. Strauss directed the OSU Program for Outreach in Resource Biotechnology from 2004-2013, which...Read more

Semir Beyaz

Semir Beyaz received his B.S. degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Izmir Institute of Technology, where he was ranked 1st in the Faculty of Science in 2009. After working at the Bone Marrow Transplantation Center at Massachusetts General Hospital between 2009-2010, he joined Harvard University, Immunology PhD program. There, he worked in Stuart Orkin’s lab at Boston Children’s Hospital on the epigenetic regulation of blood cell development and also in Omer Yilmaz’s lab at the Koch Institute of Massachusetts Institute of Technology on dietary regulation of intestinal stem cell...Read more
