Jack McCavit

Jack McCavit is President of JL McCavit Consulting, LLC, a consulting company specializing in improving process safety management systems and reducing process safety incidents. Jack worked for Celanese for 35 years in operations and technical management. The last five years with Celanese he was the process safety manager for company. After retiring from Celanese he became an independent consultant. He was the technical manager for the Baker Panel following the BP Texas City incident. He also served as a part of the BP Independent Expert Team which monitored BP’s implementation of the Baker Panel recommendations. Jack is a CCPS Fellow and an AIChE Fellow. He was the committee chair for the CCPS book, Guidelines for Risk Based Process Safety. He is a Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center Merit Award recipient and a Distinguished Engineer from Texas Tech University. He and his wife Sherry have three sons and seven grandkids.
