2015 WIC Travel Grant Award Winners
Enabling more women to attend an AIChE conference provides a valuable opportunity to advance their professional development via networking, shared resources, and increased visibility within AIChE and the profession.
Thanks to the generous support of individual and corporate donors, travel grants were awarded to 14 women last fall as part of the Women’s Initiatives Committee (WIC) Travel Award program. The WIC Travel Award Program supports women seeking to re-enter the workforce and/or in academia (graduate school and post-doctoral) with travel resources to attend an AIChE Annual and Spring Meeting.
In 2015, 57 outstanding applicants submitted proposals highlighting their innovative research subjects as well as their specific journeys into the chemical engineering workforce. Of those 57 applicants, 14 winners were selected and each received a $500 grant to cover their travel expenses to the 2015 Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City. The recipients were also honored with an award at the WIC Luncheon on November 9th 2015. The WIC Travel Award Program is a critical resource for women, especially those reentering the chemical engineering workforce, to network with peers, benefit from mentors’ guidance for successful practices, and gain insight from exposure to industry leaders.
