Revitalizing the Brown Endowment for the Next Generation of MAC Scholars

Henry’s devotion to equity for minority engineers made an indelible impression on the Institute and those of us who are privileged enough to be its leaders. It is imperative that we lead by example and advance AIChE’s commitment to equitable, diverse, and inclusive chemical engineering talent. — Bruce Chinn, AIChE Foundation Chair and CEO, CPChemical

Nearly three years after Henry Brown’s passing, several committed donors including current and former AIChE Foundation Trustees, Shailendra Bordawekar, Bruce ChinnPaul Mensah, and Otis Shelton, are revitalizing the Henry T. & Melinda C. Brown Endowment.

Their goal is to raise $300,000 over three years.

With early commitments of $20,000, 20% of their initial goal of $100,000 by December 31st, 2023 is secured.

“Henry’s devotion to equity for minority engineers made an indelible impression on the Institute and those of us who are privileged enough to be its leaders. It is imperative that we lead by example and advance AIChE’s commitment to equitable, diverse, and inclusive chemical engineering talent,” said Bruce Chinn, AIChE Foundation Chair and Chief Executive Officer, CPChemical.

Carlos Prieto-Perez, two-time MAC Scholar and Process Engineer – Merck, shared, “The special thing about recognition as a MAC Scholar is that the award was directly given to me. It provided financial flexibility to pay for books, lab fees, and other expenses that come from being a student.”

A contribution to the Brown Endowment is an investment in our community and in MAC.

To help the Brown Endowment exist in perpetuity and award up to 30 high-achieving students annually, we invite you to give the gift of inspiration.
