Tackling Global Challenges is the Focus of Langer Fellows
An h-index of 321. More than 1,400 current and pending patents licensed or sublicensed. 40+ companies launched or co-founded with a collective estimated market value of more than $100 billion. Bob Langer is truly the Edison of our times.
Bob is also well known for inspiring and motivating early career researchers to stay focused, believe in themselves and dream big. In 2019 the Langer Prize Endowment was launched with the goal to provide perpetual funding for the annual awarding of the Langer Prize for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Excellence to an exceptional chemical engineer.
It’s exciting to see the progress these five young engineers are making. They are tackling tremendous challenges to positively impact our environment, our health, and the future of medicine." – Bob Langer, David H. Koch (1962) Institute Professor – MIT.
Since then, five Langer Fellows were selected from applicants around the world, receiving up to $100,000 in award funding to advance their idea and they become part of a network, with access to, and support from, some of the industry’s foremost experts in innovation and entrepreneurship. The sixth Fellow will be announced this summer.
Recently, we had the chance to connect with Bob following his keynote at the inaugural AIChE mRNA conference in Boston, MA.
"It’s exciting to see the progress these five young engineers are making. They are tackling tremendous challenges to positively impact our environment, our health, and the future of medicine."
Bob followed with, “If each Langer Fellow takes risks while always remembering to answer the question, how can I make the greatest impact?, they will.”
To support the prizes in perpetuity, a $2MM endowment was established. If interested in investing in the future and advancing the Langer Prize, please contact Natalie Krauser.
